Heartaches By The Number, Troubles By The Score

The Tennessee Court of Appeals has affirmed a trial court determination regarding the estate of legendary country music songwriter Harlan Perry Howard, who was described in trial testimony as the "Irving Berlin of Country Music." The estate consisted primarily of songwriting royalties. The court rejected claims by his two eldest children that his fifth wife had breached fiduciary obligations and that her accountant, who had valued the royalties, had labored under an impermissible conflict of interest.
