Duty To Self-Report
A recent article on the web page of the California State Bar describes the duty, imposed by the legislature, of California lawyers to self-report specified information to the bar's disciplinary counsel. The article is authored by Chief Disciplinary Counsel Scott Drexel and notes that discipline may be imposed for the failure to self-report even if the underlying basis does not establish a grounds for sanction.
