About this blog

Among the best resources that law students and lawyers have are the Career Development Professionals in their law schools and our colleagues who serve employers in Recruiting and Professional Development.

The contributors to this blog are professionals who know and care about law students in all stages of career development, whether they plan to go to the largest law firms in the world or to start solo practices in their hometowns; to serve the public as in federal, state or local governments or as prosecutors, public defenders, legal services lawyers or staff in non-profits across the ideological spectrum; to work in legal or non-legal academia or to pursue alternative careers.

The professionals who will blog here have valuable information to share about searching for public and private summer associate and law clerk positions, judicial clerkships, transitions from first jobs to the next steps on varied career paths, and for advice about alternative careers.

Finally, look to this blog for two of the most crucial aspects of law student and lawyer professional development: (1) the on-going self-assessment necessary for each candidate to be able to control his or her career and career path, AND (2) the need to use every step on that career path to demonstrate professionalism.
