Salt of the Earth, Part I: Need a Document, No Problem, Right?

How often have you seen on an AALL list or an AALL chapter list, a request like one of the following:

Can someone please send me ---

WL [unpublished opinion no.]? or

Lexis [unpublished opinion no.]? or

__ ALR __ ? or

AmJur Sec. xx-xy? or

[cite to] Standard Federal Tax? or

Collier on Bankruptcy [insert cite]?

Pretty damn often, right? Responding back to the list, a no-brainer, right?

Well, according to AALL's national and chapter-level mandated e-communications policy, which of the following is not an acceptable response to the list:

Will photocopy and fax to you.

Will photocopy, scan and email you.

Just emailed it to you from Westlaw (or Lexis or IntelliConnect).

Once my vendor rep says it is OK, will provide.

Time to cue up the music as the theme for future posts in this series. [JH]

...the response that is *most* acceptable is - this is why document delivery services - and ILL forms - exist. And, frankly, if your budget does not allow for document delivery or ILL, take it up with whoever is controlling your budget.
