AALL Petition for By-Law Amendments Regarding SIS Fees
Here is a petition asking AALL for a vote by distributed ballot (simple majority of those voting) to:
1. Increase the percentage of SIS fees given to each SIS to 80% (this allows AALL 20% as an administrative fee) and provides that it be paid quarterly instead of once a year.
2. Requires any changes to SIS fees be voted on by the members of AALL.

AALL requires original petition signatures. Only members in good standing may sign the petition.

Ken says it much better than I. While I appreciate the effort by Ms. Bieberman and her cadre to be involved, I think however well intentioned this proposal might be, it unfortunately creates numerous problems. Problems that do not need to exist, especially when we are talking about a relatively small amount of funds. Now, if, section dues were $40 or $50 then, yes, maybe there should be a different split akin to what Ms. Bieberman demands. However, As someone who pays dues to a number of sections, I find the current amount to be very reasonable, if not cheap, and find Ms. Bieberman's implication that somehow AALL is reaping obscene sums of money from the SIS to be false. Frankly, that is where I draw the line. This idea that if I do not like what you are doing then obviously you are doing something wrong just does not belong in a professional group. Let's not imply, that because we do not like something, it must be fishy and therefore wrong (or worse). Let's get back to focusing on our members and our association, not on a misguided crusade.
