From the announcement:

Do you know, or are you aware of a colleague who is involved in community  service, charitable activity or is in some way volunteering to serve the public? If you do, this is exactly the kind of people that we recognize with the Mersky Spirit of Law Librarianship Award for Public Service (MSLLAPS). The award is funded by the Roy M. Merksy Spirit of Law Librarianship Foundation.

Be forewarned, however: in the twenty years of giving the award, I've learned that these generous individuals are oathe to be recognized and may go to great lengths to avoid the spotlight. That's fine. We appreciate this and do not want to embarrass them, but feel that their efforts should be recognized, and hope that by bringing visibility to their work, it may inspire others to do more in making our world a better place in which to live. I encourage you to nominate these fine people even though they resist. In the long run, it may end up doing us all a world of good.

If you have someone in mind, please send the information to me and I will share it with the selection committee: Terry Martin, Dick Spinelli and Donna Tuke.
