DRM Single Most Important Factor Hindering eBook Use for Library Patrons
DRM is the single most important factor that hinders eBook use for library patrons according to the 2009 Librarian eBook Survey conducted by Highwire Press. Limited length of access and the inability to lend eBooks via interlibrary loans are the most unacceptable forms of DRM. See table below, click to enlarge.
According to the survey's findings, patrons prefer eBooks in PDF format and librarians prefer purchase with perpetual access as the most acceptable business model of eBooks. Complete survey findings here.
