Sotomayor an Active Questioner in First Arguments of Term

The first reviews are in.  Justice Sotomayor is a hit on the Supreme Court when it comes to oral arguments.  Rather than taking a reserved approach to asking questions that may suit some form of protocol for a new Justice, she held her ground with Justice Scalia and the others.  Sotomayor asked 36 questions to Scalia's 30 according to a report in the Los Angeles Times.  Original reporting on the first arguments for the newest Justice are in USAToday, and the Washington Post.  The Wall Street Journal Law Blogsuggests that this may portend a budding rivalry between Sotomayor and Scalia.  The Supreme Court posts transcriptsof its oral arguments on its web site on the same day they are given.  The transcript for the Shatzer case (first one argued in the term) is here.  [MG]
