Happy Anniversary Bibliotheca Alexandrina

Seven years ago today the Second Great Library in Alexandria, Egypt, opened.  This Wired piece suggests that the facility is impressive but the collection is not.  There is space for 8 million books but the shelves are mostly empty.  Digitization will probably contribute to keeping it that way. The moral of the story is to save some money for collection development.  I wonder if they have a cell phone policy.  [MG]
