Kudos to Lee Peoples

Lee Peoples has been appointed Director of Oklahoma City University School of Law Library effective July 1, 2010. He will be succeeding Judy Morgan who is retiring on June 30, 2010, at the end of what will be her 23rd year at OCU Law. It is good to see that the law school recognized Lee's talents and accomplishments by making this internal appointment. Lee joined OCU Law in June 2002 as Head of Reference Services, was promoted to the position of Associate Director in 2006, and, on the recommendation of the law faculty, was appointed to the rank of associate professor of law library science in 2007.

From OCU Law Dean Lawrence K. Hellman's announcement:

[Lee] is an innovative and enthusiastic teacher, a nationally and internationally recognized scholar, and a skillful administrator.  He has been invited to speak at national and international conferences, and he has been elected to leadership positions in sections of the Association of American Law Schools and among organizations of law librarians.  He is the immediate past-president of the Midwest Association of Law Libraries.

Our law school is fortunate to have enjoyed the leadership of Judy Morgan for more than two decades and to have attracted such a capable successor whom we hope will guide the law library for years to come.

Best wishes to Judy Morgan on enjoying her retirement and congratulations to LLB's former contributing editor, Lee Peoples. I am sure the OCU law library staff is as delighted as we are about this well-deserved appointment. [JH]
