Multitasking Switchtasking is Counterproductive

Apparently Dave Crenshaw's mission is to make multitasking culturally unacceptable behavior in the workplace. In his new book, The Myth of Multitasking: How "Doing It All" Gets Nothing Done (Jossey-Bass, August 18, 2008), he argues that multitasking doesn't boost productivity. Juggling tasks just slows you down by refocusing your attention back and forth between the tasks, and losing time and progress in the switch. For more, see LifeHacker's interview of Dave Crenshaw. Scratch one buzzword from management's lexicon. [JH]
