Opening: Assistant Technical Services & Systems Librarian, NIU Law

Northern Illinois University Law Library, a Voyager user, is seeking applications for the position of Assistant Technical Services & Systems Librarian. This is a tenure track library faculty position with initial appointment at the rank of assistant professor.

QUALIFICATIONS-- Required:  Master’s degree in library or information science from a program accredited by the American Library Association.

Preferred:  Experience in library technical services.  Experience with the Voyager integrated library system. Excellent communication skills and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.

DUTIES-- Primary Duties: Assist the Associate Director/Technical Services Librarian in the administration and operation of technical services functions, with particular responsibility for serials and acquisitions. Assist in the implementation and use of all modules of the Voyager integrated library system.  Supervise the Acquisitions Specialist and the Serials Clerk.

Other Duties: Assist the Associate Director/Technical Services Librarian in the cataloging aspects of serials control, identifying title changes and modifications needed to online catalog records. Perform other duties consistent with interests.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Regular, twelve-month, tenure-track faculty position. Available July 1, 2006. Starting date negotiable. Competitive salary.
