From Honest Abe to Waterfree Urinals, Here Comes the 2006 Pig Book

Do we need to spend $600,000 to call attention to Abe Lincoln's bicentennial birthday in 2009. Wouldn't a postage stamp do? Yes folks the 2006 Pig Book is out.

The Congressional Pig Book is Citizens Against Government Waste (CAGW) annual compilation of the pork-barrel projects in the federal budget.  The 2006 Pig Book identified 9,963 projects in the 11 appropriations bills that constitute the discretionary portion of the federal budget for fiscal 2006, costing taxpayers a mere $29 billion.

Oinker awards included the "Flushing our Money Down the Toilet Award" to Representative Vernon Ehlers (R-Mich.) for $1 million for the Waterfree Urinal Conservation Initiative.
