Trading Cards Promote Library Services

In Collect Them All the Chronicle of Higher Education reports on a promotion the librarians at Carleton College have been using to highlight the library's reference services and raise the library's profile in their community. The author of the article, Paula Wasley, writes:

To promote the services on offer at the reference desk, Laurence McKinley Gould Library issues trading cards inspired by Japanese anime. The cards display photos of the librarians on the front, with their features on the back, listed under categories like "superpowers," "sidekicks," "vulnerability," and "sources of power."

According to the report, the trading card promotion has earned the reference staff the title of "coolest librarians" in a local Minneapolis-St. Paul magazine.

Perfect for the Pokemon generation!

Thanks to Daniel L.  Bell, Reference/Technology Law Librarian, Mabee Legal Information Center, University of Tulsa College of Law for the tip.
