Job Opening: Computer Services Librarian, Univ. of Louisville

Computer Services Librarian
Louis D. Brandeis School of Law Library, University of Louisville, Louisville KY

The Law Library is the focal point in the Louis D. Brandeis School of Law, an ABA accredited school with a total enrollment of approximately 400 students in the day and evening divisions. The spacious library serves the legal profession as well as the law school community with a collection of 400,000 volumes and microform volume equivalents. Students enjoy access to Westlaw, LexisNexis, and the Internet from two computer laboratories and a wireless network.

REQUIREMENTS:  MLS from an ALA-accredited program; familiarity with the maintenance and troubleshooting of Windows-based personal computers; some experience in managing or assisting in the management of Windows networks. Applicants must have good communications skills. Experience in a law library is preferred.

DUTIES:  Provide reference and research assistance to the faculty and students of the School of Law, to the local bar, and to the public.  Set up and perform routine maintenance of public and staff computers in the law library, including network servers.  Manage student computer labs and associated network.  Perform software upgrades; provide software training to students, law faculty and library staff; and conduct research using online services and the Internet.  Advise director regarding purchase of software and hardware applications.  Some evening and weekend hours are required.

SALARY:  Salary range $34,000 - 36,000, commensurate with qualifications and experience.  Attractive benefits package. Tenurable faculty appointment. Position will remain open until filled, with an initial screening of applicants beginning March 15, 2006.
