AAUP Investigating Tulane Layoffs
Inside Higher Ed has published Did Katrina Blow Away Layoff Guidelines? an article reporting on the AAUP's efforts to seek answers to questions about how Tulane University arrived at its post-Katrina reorganization plan including the layoff of some 230 faculty members, 65 of whom are tenured professors. Among the many issues, did the magnitude of Tulane's financial situation warrant so many terminations, did the University followed AAUP layoff guidelines...
