Bush Looked Beyond the "Judicial Monastery" This Time

Chicago Tribune Supreme Court reporter, Jan Crawford Greenburg, is "shocked" by President Bush's selection of his White House general counsel, Harriet Miers, to fill the remaining vacancy on the Supreme Court. You "won't be seeing cartwheels from anyone this morning," Greenburg said, but she is confirm-able. Greenburg pointed out that Miers' close contacts with members of the Senate Judiciary Committee during the search for SCOTUS candidates bodes well for her confirmation.
