Search Engines Devoted to Blogs Reviewed by WSJ
If you are looking via search engine for blog content in real time, then you are likely going to be disappointed with Yahoo and Google. The nature of their databases is such that they are not refreshed fast enough to quickly pick up blog content. It can take several days or more for content (such as this post) to finally show up.
Where there's a need, there is a start-up willing to tackle the problem, or in this case, several. The Wall Street Journal is reporting on and reviewing several Internet resources that are filling the gap. There are five sites listed in the article. These are:
Technorati.com (www.technorati.com)
IceRocket (www.icerocket.com)
Feedster (www.feedster.com)
DayPop (www.daypop.com)
Bloglines (www.bloglines.com)
Random searches on these sites give results that have been posted with the last hour of the search. The article goes into detail about the utility and scope of each of these sites. I can see Google and Yahoo reacting to the competition, but they just aren't there yet.
The WSJ article is called New Search Engines Help Users Find Blogs

Building my own now, but http://blogsearch.google.com is pretty good. Far from the regular Google algo, but getting there.
