Venkatesh on "This American Life"

Levitt and Dubner at the Freakonomics blog had a note that Sudhir Venkatesh, a sociologist at Columbia who wrote, with Levitt, a marvelous piece on the economics of an urban gang that is the subject of Chapter 3 in Freakonomics, would be on the PBS radio program "This American Life" this weekend talking about an ammunition dealer in south Chicago and his difficulties in dealing with all the money that he took in.  See here for information on when the show might be heard in your area.  Don't miss it.  It's not only interesting; it's touching.

Venkatesh has a book coming from Harvard University Press in October -- Off the Books: The Underground Economy of the Urban Poor.
