The NLRB has just announced its Fiscal Year 2009 productivity. This past year, the Board--working with only two members--decided 256 cases. Unfair labor practice cases made up 195 of these decisions; 61 of the cases were representation ones. The number of cases awaiting decision rose to 195 from 171 last year. The previous fiscal year, where the Board had a full complement of members for 3 months saw 328 decisions.
Further evidence that Chairwoman Liebman and Member Schaumber are working hard. We'll find out if much of that work has to be repeated because of the two-member decision issue.
