Sexual Haraasment at Sea: Of Scalawags and Sea Wenches
This is a fairly garden variety sexual harassment case, but its description in this newspaper is what got my attention (via the N.Y. Daily News):
An ex-employee of a Staten Island marine company claims she was sexually harassed by scalawags who treated her like a sea wench.
Melissa Brennan, 25, alleges in a $16 million lawsuit filed in Brooklyn Federal Court that she was "groped, pinched and constantly ogled" by at least six men at K-Sea Transportation. Brennan said she was also barraged with comments about her figure and requests for dates since she began working in 2004 . . . .
At a May seminar Brennan said she loaned her hotel key to a co-worker and later found her pillows arrayed in the shape of a penis.
Brennan said her bosses transferred her to a New Jersey office instead of dealing with the goons. The company has denied the allegations in legal papers but declined further comment.
Wow, talk about a writer letting his pen take over the story. I guess that is why they call them tabloids.
