Low Wage Worker Symposium
Laura Cooper writes to remind us that the Minnesota Law Review and the Labor Law Group are co-sponsoring a symposium next month on The Low-Wage Worker. The symposium will be held at the University of Minnesota Law School on November 2, 2007. Registration is free for law students and faculty, and hotel rooms are available nearby at a conference rate of $113. Here's the symposium description:
Topics to be addressed in connection with the overall theme of low-wage workers and legal protections include domestic work, immigration, collective action by low-wage workers, community organizing, workers’ centers, the history of low wage workers, the international human rights implications of denying labor protections to undocumented workers, legislative efforts to regulate big-box retailers, social class definition, and the economic effects of minimum wage laws.
