Transformation of Work
Britain's Equal Opportunities Commission has just released its study Transformation of Work. The Report describes a "third generation" of flexible working containing four models:
- Timelords have the greatest control over how, where and when they work. They can work from any location and they can choose the timing.
- Shift-shapers have little control over where and when they work, but are still allowed to work flexibly.
- Time-stretchers have much control over when they work but where they work is dependant upon working face to face with clients or accessing equipment on site.
- Remote controllers have greater choice over where they work and in some cases do not have a central office location. They are time dependant due to customers and technology but have greater control over their time because of the freedom of where they work.
