Call for Papers: SDLP Climate Issue

Call for Papers- Climate Law Reporter

Sustainable Development Law and Policy(“SDLP”) is accepting submissions for its annual Climate Law issue.  If you would like to submit an article for consideration in the Winter 2008 issue on Climate Law, please send your paper or a summary of your topic to sdlp@wcl.american.edu ASAP. The deadline for submission is December 15, 2007.

SDLP’s annual climate issue, The Climate Law Reporter, hopes to provide a forum for practitioners to discuss the rapidly developing events in climate law.  We are hoping to evaluate climate law on an international, regional, and national scale.  SDLP aims to represent a range of viewpoints, including those from academia, the private sector, public sector, multilateral organizations, and others.  Please view our Winter 2007 Climate Law Reporter at http://www.wcl.american.edu/org/sustainabledevelopment/2007/07winter.pdf?rd=1

Requirements for Submissions:
•    Articles or abstracts should be submitted to sdlp@wcl.american.edu.
•    Articles must be no longer than 15 pages (double spaced, 12 point font, Times New Roman print).
•    Articles should be submitted electronically in Microsoft Word or a Word-compatible software program.
•    All articles should attempt to follow the format presented in previous issues of SDLP. This includes an introduction, which outlines the rest of the article, and a conclusion. Please refer to the link to "Back Issues" for examples.
•    Please provide complete citations to every fact, opinion, statement, and quote that is not your original idea. Complete citations include: the name and author of the cited document, title of publication or publisher, date of publication, relevant page numbers, and specific website address.
•    We encourage the submission of photographs and graphics to accompany your article. Please send proof of permission to use others' images.
•    Please include a 3-4 sentence biography of yourself and indicate whether you would like your email address included with the published article.

We reserve the right to reject submissions and hold all submissions on file for later publication. We also reserve the right to revise your submission and/or cut text. You will have the opportunity to accept or reject any revisions. SDLP accepts submission of timely articles that have already been published elsewhere, so long as permission of the previous publisher is received.

SDLP is available online at LexisNexis, Westlaw, VLex and Hein Online and is widely distributed throughout the Washington, DC community, law and graduate schools, and to representatives of international organizations worldwide.  You can also view the pdf versions of recent SDLP issues at http://www.wcl.american.edu/org/sustainabledevelopment/.

Environmental Best Practices Position in HK

Dear GEP Colleagues: Here's a great job in Hong Kong for a new post-doc.

As I understand it, the salary is up to about US$5000 per month (salaries tax in Hong Kong is a maximum of 15%, and the HK dollar is fixed to the US dollar).     Project   
  Environmental Best Practice: A Comparative Study with Hong Kong
Applications   

  Duties   
  Participate in a study of environmental policy and environmental best-practice, comparing selected cities in East and Southeast Asia, Europe and North America.  Analyze documents, conduct interviews, contribute to the preparation and writing of papers and articles for journals and newspapers.
The appointee will have substantial responsibility for taking initiatives in research and analysis, including interviews in Hong Kong and visits to other cities where appropriate.

  Requirements   
  A PhD/Masters degree in a relevant social sciences discipline (e.g.
sociology, political science, public policy, environmental studies, geography). Knowledge of environmental policies and issues (local, regional, and/or global) through academic studies, research, or Government/NGO experience and fluency in English required. Ability to discuss environmental issues in Chinese, and/or in any other major Asian or European languages preferred.
