Today is the last day to register for the third annual "Live from L", a conversation with Harold Hongju Koh, Legal Advisor of the U.S. Department of State's Office of the Legal Advisor (aka "L"). The title of the presentation is "International Lawyering for the U.S. Government in an Era of Smart Power: Emerging Issues for the Next Four Years." Other speakers from the U.S. Department of State include: Susan Biniaz, Deputy Legal Advisor, who will speak on climate change issues, Paul Dean, Assistant Legal Advisor, who will cover treaties and executive agreements, Alexandra Perina, Legal Adviser, Political-Military Affairs, who will discuss the laws of war and cyberconflict, and Kevin Baumert, Attorney-Advisor, who will speak about South China Sea issues. The panel will be moderated by Susan Karamanian, Associate Dean for International and Comparative Legal Studies at George Washington University School of Law.
The event will be held from noon to 2 pm tomorrow, Thursday, January 10, 2013 at the George Washington School of Law in Washington, DC. The event is cosponsored by the International Law Section of the American Bar Association, the American Society of International Law and George Washington University School of Law.
