U.N. Security Council Extends UNIFIL Mandate in Lebanon
The U.N. Security Council has extended the mandate of UNIFIL for another year pursuant to a request from the Lebanese Foreign Minister. The resolution adopted August 27, 2009 also emphasized the importance of establishing between the Blue Line and the Litani River an area free of any armed personnel, assets and weapons other than those of the Lebanese Government and UNIFIL.
