U.S. Says Deal to Send 17 Guantanamo Detainees to Palau is Not Finalized

Palau We shared here news that the Republic of Palau had agreed to accept 17 detainees from Guanatamo.  In that earlier post (which also included a link to the exchange of diplomatic notes between Palau and the United States), we shared an observation from the President of Palau that he was not sure that the U.S. would send the detainees to Palau.  It seems he was right (at least for now), because the U.S. has now said that the deal has not been finalized.
