The People's Republic of China has asked that the 17 Chinese nationals who were to be transferred to Palau be instead returned to China. A Chinese Foreign Ministry Spokesman, Qin Gang, is reported to have said that China is demanding that the United States live up to its international anti-terrorism obligations, stop the transfer of these suspects to any third country, and repatriate them to China.
