Investing in Africa
USA Africa Investment.com has published a new report that details the reasons why Africa has not attracted more interest from the U.S. business community, such as problems in the perception fo the rule of law. Investment in Africa is a diffiult proposition, because of the large problem with corruption. Making sure the money gets to the people is difficult. Probably better to funnel the money throught NGO's rather than the countries' governments. That doesn't mean we shouldn't try. I remember feeling really proud to be an American when I watched President Bush, not my favorite American president, announce his plan to reduce AIDS in Africa, a program that has been very successful, so it can be done.
