International Conference on the Prevention of Torture and Other Ill-Treatment
On February 23, 2009, the American University Washington College of Law (WCL) and the Association for the Prevention of Torture are co-sponsoring an all-day conference on the Prevention of Torture and Other Ill-Treatment. The program begins at 8:30 am at WCL in St. Louis, MO and concludes at 4:45 pm that day. There will be three panels on the following topics: (1) Are Adequate Legal Frameworks in Place at the Domestic Level?; (2) How are Laws Applied and Detention Practices Reformed?; and (3) Transparency and the Access of Independent Experts to All Places of Detention.
