The Situation in Gaza
Neither Israel nor Hamas has agreed to a proposed 48-hour cease fire urged by the United Nations and the European Union, but Israel has agreed to allow some humanitarian aid into Gaza. Click here to read more. The Israeli Supreme Court ruled on Wednesday that the Israeli military must allow foreign journalists to enter Gaza. There appears to be no diplomatic solution to the present hostilities. The UN Security Council has reportedly been discussing a Libyan draft of a resolution that calls for an immediate ceasefire to halt the Israeli-Palestinian violence, but ambassadors from the United States and the United Kingdom rejected the draft because it said the Hamas attacks on Israel.
