From The Bookshelves: Dave Barry's Insane City

Barry

It's a beautiful Saturday in August. The start of the semester is just around the corner, but it's not here yet. So go to the pool with your kids or soak up the sun in the park. And take along a good read - Dave Barry's novel Insane City.

It's fiction - so that alone is a plus. No dense academic or nonfiction reading today!

It's also zany - definitely Dave Barry humor all the way. If you're unfamiliar with Dave Barry's humor columns, that's just not acceptable. You should remedy that. But I'll still give you a fiction-author analogy - think Carl Hiaasen.

The book also includes just a hint of immigration -- enough to make you feel feel like you're exercising a small part of your immprof brain as you read.

There's not much of summer left to enjoy. It's definitely time to break out the beach reads if you haven't yet.

P.S. Those who take me up on this reading suggestion - let's talk you're done with the book about how you think Barry did with the law.
