The Texas House and Senate recently passed Senate Bill 4 ("SB4"), which, if signed by Governor Greg Abbott, would require local law enforcement to cooperate with federal immigration officials or face criminal charges and civil fines. That's a highfalutin way of saying it's an anti "sanctuary city" measure.

There have been protests at the capitol against SB4. And law enforcement officials have spoken out against the bill. But given that SB4 has already passed the House and Senate, it is likely to become state law.
