Despite his many immigration activities outside Kansas, Kansas voters in the Republican primary made Kris Kobach the GOP nominee for Secretary of State by a 2-1 margin on Tuesday. Bill Hing reported on this race earlier in the week.
Mother Jones ran a feature article "Kris Kobach, Nativist Son" that describes him as "The legal mastermind behind the wave of anti-immigration laws sweeping the country." Courts have struck down many of the laws, with the Supreme Court invalidating the core of Arizona's SB 1070 in Arizona v. United States. Newsweek dubbed Kobach "Deporter in Chief." Controversial rocker Ted Nugent recenbtly endorsed Kobach's reelection campaign.
