New York State Citizenship Bill: Promoting Immigrant Inclusion

New York State Senator Gustavo Rivera (D-Bronx) is the lead sponsor of a bill, "New York is Home Act," which seeks to offer state citizenship to undocumented immigrants who can demonstrate, among other things, proof of 3 years of NY state residency and 3 years of NY state tax payments. Upon gaining citizenship, such "NY state citizen" would be able to vote in state and local elections, run for state office, get a driver's license, professional license, and state benefits.
