Protest Shuts Down ICE in Tacoma

From the National Day Laborer Organizing Network:

Our civil disobedience action to shut down ICE and demanding Obama to stop deportations and extend deferred action to all undocumented immigrants at the NW Detention Center in Tacoma Monday morning was a huge success!

You can watch the last part of the action in the following website, it also includes the names of all of us who participated risking arrest, and for some of us being undocumented immigrants, risking being taken by ICE.

We were able to stop a bus and a van from leaving the detention center. We received info today that we we're able to disrupt activities (although Geo, ICE and Tacoma police claimed the opposite), and that deportations had to be delayed this week due to our action.

The action was organized by four local Latina women: Sandy Restrepo, Angelica Chazaro, Carino Barragan, and Maru Mora Villalpando, with support from Marisa Franco NDLON and many others.

Our action is connected to other actions across country and the Not1moredeportation campaign.
