Starting yesterday, undocumented immigrants in Nevada can register for new driving authorization cards.
The cards will allow them to legally drive on Nevada roads.
“It’s something that allows them to safely get from one place to another,” said Laura Martinez, coordinator for the nonprofit Mi Familia Vota in Northern Nevada. “It’s driving without the fear of getting caught and fearing deportation.”
More than 60,000 people are expected to register for the authorization cards at the Nevada Department of Motor Vehicles...

Brian Sandoval said in a statement he was proud to sign off on the new law [enacted this past Fall]: “Allowing undocumented immigrants to obtain a driver’s privilege card will increase the number of drivers on Nevada’s roads that are insured and aware of traffic rules and regulations.” Read more...
