Here is another story of an ex-boxer down on his luck. Former boxing champion Jimmy "Thunder" Peau, who fought as a heavyweight under the name Jimmy Thunder, has been held in immigration detention since last August and is fighting deportation to New Zealand. Peau held the IBO heavyweight world title. Click here for details.
Jimmy Thunder is credited with the world's fastest knockout, 1.7 seconds in a 1997 fight.
Last year, the Star-Times reproted on Peau's turbulent post-boxing life; he had been living on the streets of Las Vegas.
