Only in America!!!!!!!!!! Son of Undocumented Immigrant Wins Gold for USA
Given the sadness we report on so often on this blog, it is good to have a "feel good" story every once in a while. And here (and here) one is! Henry Cejudo, the son of undocumented immigrants, defeated Tomohiro Matsunaga of Japan to win the 121-pound freestyle wrestling final on Tuesday. And he is not sure he will ever remove the gold medal around his neck! The USA Wrestling program trained the 21-year-old Cejudo to become the youngest gold medalist in United States wrestling history.
Cejudo's mother. Nelly Rico, who came to the United States from Mexico as an undocumented immigrant, raised seven children by herself and left Los Angeles with them in the middle of the night to escape their father.

I would be willing to cede this gold medal to Mexico if we were able to remove all illegal aliens from the United States.

I think this is a wonderful story. However, in the absence of a trial with a jury or some kind of legal confession, I will say that Henry is the son of an immigrant family. Great story. Great kid. Awesome!

Good for the kid and the US medal count, but why do we celebrate the fact this his parents were illegal immigrants??? I am sick of these "child of illegal immigrants makes good" stories.

A Vast majority of the Anti-Immigrant activists can trace their lineage and discover that their ancestors arrived illegally too... Not everyone arrived in America through Ellis Island. Many many many ships arrived on NJ, Maryland, Virginia, Carolinas coast and dumped off illegals too. Funny their descendants are the ones beating the Anti-Immigrant band.

Great job Henry! Do the restrictionists still want to radically amend the Constitution and the over 200 year old birthright citizenship clause? Not only is it politically impossible but its also anti-Founding Fathers.
