117 Migrant deaths along the border, so far
In a grim disclosure, Mexico’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs (SRE) recently released its count of the number of Mexican migrants who died struggling to reach El Norte in 2008 so far. Until June 9, the SRE documented the deaths of 117 migrants who perished while attempting to cross the Mexico-US border. For the full story, click here.

I believe that Horace, while he has a point - albeit somewhat convoluted - has employed a very poor choice of words by using the word "insignificant". There is nothing insignificant about 117 tragic deaths, or frankly even one death. Perhaps his point would be somewhat less callous if he used words like "perspective", "comparison", or even "mitigate".
