To DREAM (Act) the Impossible Dream

AP reports that Arkansas two-year and four-year colleges and universities must ask potential students if they legally live in the country, the director of the Arkansas Department of Higher Education said Thursday.  A letter by Jim Purcell, sent to all colleges Thursday, came after a day after Gov. Mike Beebe's office acknowledged it did not know that admission procedures of the state's two largest schools could charge undocumented immigrants in-state tuition.

This is perfectly consonant with federal law that differentiates between legal residents who are legitimate and foreigners who pretend they are. It means that if you're an illegal alien, you'll have to pay as much as those who aren't state residents. I'll save my sympathies for those out-of-stater citizens who have to pay full tuition. It's hardly fair that the son or daughter of those who pretend to be legal residents/citizens be given more consideration our own countrymen. Every illegal alien who's given in-state tuition steals scarce resources that could be used to subsidize citizens. Giving illegal aliens in-state tuition puts the citizen in awkward position of assisting the very illegal alien he is attempting to deport. I'm sure that this irony would amuse the illegal alien advocates if it were permitted.
