Death on the High Seas
Death on the border -- part and parcel of increased U.S. border enforcement -- is so common that I rarely report it anymore. It is worth remembering that migrants also seek to come to the United States by boat, raft, and other vessels. CNN reports that the bodies of 20 migrants have been recovered from the sea near the Bahamas after their boat apparently capsized, the U.S. Coast Guard said earlier today as it searched for survivors. The bodies of 19 Haitians and one Honduran were recovered and three survivors -- two Haitians and one Honduran -- have been found. The search-and-rescue mission began Sunday after fishermen heard people screaming in the water.
