When millions marched for the rights of immigrants in the streets of major cities throughout the United States in the spring of 2006, only two U.S. Senators marched with them: Edward Kennedy and Barack Obama. Before the California primary, Maria Elena Durazo of the AFL-CIO highlighted this fact at East Los Angeles City College in introducing Senator Kennedy who was campaigning for Senator Obama.
