... at least, not on the West Coast. Hopefully, we can get our act together in the East. It happens that I haven't discussed policy on this blog, but it's not because it's not important! Thanks to the ImmigrationProf Blog. [Read More]

It doesn't matter what they do if they obey the law. And they may protest and demand until the end of time: the citizens have clearly indicated they want the thuggery stopped and the illegal aliens deported.
I would point out too, the U.S. Citizens have been asking the Congress to lower the rate of Immigration and deport the illegal aliens since 1989. Requests that Congress simply ignored. And as awareness on this issue rises, the potential for the Illegal Aliens to score with demonstrations goes way, way down.

The recent Rasmussen Report states that of the Americans who are actually knowledgeable on this issue are against amnesty by a ratio of two to one. If you really feel comfortable relying on old corrupt polls like those done by the NYT, USA Today, then your position has no more stability than a house of cards. If you're wrong, then the Democrats will be in deep doo doo in 2008. Already the Dems have a lower poll rating than the president, so a bad bet will only make it worse. The politicians realize that the more scrutiny this bill gets, the greater will be its opposition, and that's why they tried to ram the bill through without allowing time for the monster to be read by our Congress, or for the issues to be debated in committee. If Reid's motives aren't nefarious and anti-democratic, then why is he trying to solve this problem without a long period of consideration? Correct all the deficiencies, rather than make a horribly flawed bill. This has all the appearances of an old fashioned back room deal done without informed consent, a habit that citizens loathe. Done under these conditions, passing this bill will result in bitter feelings between oposing factions for years to come, and Hispanics will hardly be seen in a favorable light. It would truly be a pyrrhic victory.
