Immigrant of the Day: Arnold Schwarzenegger
California Governor Schwarzenegger was born in Thal, Austria on July 30, 1947. He has been a bodybuilder, actor and a politician, currently serving as the 38th Governor of California. As a young man, Schwarzenegger gained widespread attention as a highly successful bodybuilder, and later gained worldwide fame as a Hollywood action film star, perhaps most famed for his role in the The Terminator series. Schwarzenegger was nicknamed "The Austrian Oak" in his body building days, "Arnie" during his acting career, and more recently "The Governator" (a portmanteau of Governor and Terminator, referring to his internationally popular film role). Schwarzenegger is a Republican, and was first elected on October 7, 2003, in a special recall election to replace then-Governor Gray Davis. Schwarzenegger was sworn in on November 17, 2003, to serve the remainder of Davis' term. Schwarzenegger was then reelected on November 7, 2006, in California's 2006 gubernatorial election to serve a full term as governor
Schwarzenegger moved to the United States in September of 1968 at the age of 21, speaking little English. There he trained at Gold's Gym in Santa Monica, California. Schwarzenegger became a U.S. citizen in 1983, although he also retains his Austrian citizenship .

Lets get rid of the bought out U.S. politicos in our mother-lands and create one unified Continent of Aztlan or whatever we wish to call it - so that our people will not have to be exploited, harrassed and kept behind a wall of shame. There is so much more to be said.........YA BASTA.....DAMN

Surrendering citizenship of one's former homeland should be the last act before committing one's self fully to becoming an American. Duel citizenship is nothing less than being half foreigner. Anything less than an exclusive devotion to our country should always be looked upon with suspicion. Arnold and some of his friends would like the Constitution changed to allow naturalized citizens to become president. If this were done, one would have to wonder the implications of having a president with duel citizenship. I believe the law precludes this, but I'm not sure. Moreover, one has to wonder how the American people would feel if Arnold retained citizenship of hostile Russia or The People's Republic of China, instead of Austria, and became president. Federal employees requiring a security clearance must be U.S. citizens, and devote exclusive loyalty to this country. I believe the same should be required for a governor, as there are no doubt occasions when governors require access to confidential and secret Department of Homeland Security information. It would be awkward for California if their governor were excluded from access to federal reports on terrorist activities for lack of a clearance. Arnold should surrender his Austrian citizenship, or resign as governor.
