Tancredo Provokes Protest at Michigan State College of Law
A campus discussion about illegal immigration turned violent Thursday evening, when protesters clashed with the MSU College Republicans and Young Americans for Freedom, who sponsored the event. MSU police were dispatched to the event after an employee of the law college called the department, MSU police Sgt. Brian McDaniel said. "About 10 to 20 protesters disrupted the event," he said. "We believe they were responsible for pulling the fire alarm." Protesters said they came to show their opposition to controversial Republican congressman Tom Tancredo, of Colorado, who spoke at the event. Before Tancredo arrived and while the event was being set up, protesters gathered on the fourth floor of the law college with signs that read "Ignorant Racist." Click here for more.

The fact that the protestors acted like animals by actually spitting at the speakers and, lacking a good argument for their case, resorted to pulling the baseless race card to tar Tancredo, speaks of their lack of character. These disruptive tactics rank with the earlier disruptions of the Minutmen at Columbia University last October. Judged on the merits of civility and adherence to free speech, the university advocacy students are barbarians compared to those they criticize.

'Provokes'? I guess the mere act of walking up to a lectern by a Republican justifies being attacked. 'Provokes'? Such a provocative choice of a word.

Good point demohypocrates. Imagine if he were allowed to present his case and these hooligans actually rioted. If it were within his power, Professor Johnson would pardon them and bring Tancredo up on charges of incitement. In the acadmemic world, students apparently can do no wrong.
