The Geneva Summit on Human Rights and Democracy brings together dissidents and human rights activists, including dipolomats and students to focus attention on current human rights urgencies. The summit is sponsored by twenty-five NGO's and sponsors individuals who have experienced severe human rights abuses, such as political prisoners, to speak about their experiences.
This year's speakers include William Browder, who promoted the passage of the Sergei Magnitsky Rule of Law Accountability Act, which honors the Russian attorney who died in prison following his uncovering widescale corruption by Russian government officials. Other speakers are Vladimer Kara-Murza, vice-chairman of Open Russia and Ugandan LGBT activist Kasha Jaqueline.
