A Glimpse of American Higher Ed's Future?

While in Israel two weeks ago as an Academic Fellow of the Foundation for Defense of Democracies, Higher Ed Law Blogger Jim Castagnera attended lectures at Tel Aviv University.

The campus was accessible only through a turnstile manned by heavily armed security gurds who searched bags and checked IDs.
Is this a sign of things to come at American universities, shaken by the VTU shootings? We are told that many higher ed athletic powers conduct searches of fans attending sporting events and that many also limit egresse after the game has started. Others have armed private police forces patrolling their campuses. This trend began at UT-Austin after the tower shootings some 40 years ago.
