Bee Movie is about food litigation!

Just took the kids to see Bee Movie. Wow.  Jerry Seinfeld is a regular sort of bee who discovers that humans "steal" honey, so he brings a lawsuit.  Go see it!  It's a fun lawyer movie, also an animal rights (bee's rights) movie, and something of an environmentalist leave-it-alone movie.  I'll be showing it in class when I get my Food Law course up and running!  John Goodman is the opposing counsel, and Oprah Winfrey is the judge.

Vote Now for your favorite Science Idol Cartoon

The Union of Concerned Scientists has posted 12 finalist cartoons in its Science Idol Cartoon contest.  You can vote for your favorite until July 23.  From the UCS website:

About Science Idol
We were looking for creative takes on the issue of political interference in science. Once the entries were in, a panel of talented, award-winning cartoonists—Dave Coverly, creator of the syndicated cartoon Speed Bump; Tom Toles, Pulitzer Prize-winning cartoonist for the Washington Post; Garry Trudeau, Pulitzer Prize-winning creator of the syndicated cartoon Doonesbury, and James McLeod, last year's Science Idol winner—chose the top 12 finalists.

Science Idol Prizes—for the cartoonists and for you!
The cartoonist with the most votes at the end of the voting period will win the grand prize—which includes a cash award and a trip to Washington, DC, to have lunch with Washington Post editorial cartoonist Tom Toles.

But the prizes aren't just limited to the cartoonists. We’ll award a 2008 Defending Science calendar featuring the work of our top 12 finalists to 50 lucky voters.
