SCT Rejects Parents Appeal in Parker v. Lexington

King_and_king_3 Parents who objected that the children's book King & King was being read in an elementary classroom will not have their appeal heard by the Supreme Court.  The story of two princes who fall in love and grow up to get married was read to the class as part of a lesson on marriage.  The teacher reportedly explained to the class that same sex marriage is legal in Massachusetts, and that some children have two Moms or two Dads.  The First Circuit rejected the parents challenge last year, ruling that the Free Exercise clause did not give them a right to interfere with legitimate curricular decisions.

The Boston Globe report linked above says that the parents have decided to homeschool their children.
